![]() ![]() Inspired Idea seems perfect for getting things in the graveyard and making Fervent Mastery reliable.Īgain, I don't have the cards, particularly the Crimson Vow cards, so I haven't tested this. Wedding Invitation seems better than Sneaking Guide, since you likely only need one good hit, and Wedding Invitation is much less prone to dying. And if you have Dollhouse, might as well add Hullbreaker. You can give Flamepainter resilience with Dollhouse of Horrors to cheat it out from the graveyard with haste, rather than spending a ton of effort making it indestructible. Alternatively you can use Magma Opus, which can self-discard. You can replace Emeria's Call as the kill spell with Mascot Exhibition Learn works both as a way to get useful cards, and as a loot mechanic if you need it. I'd consider removing white, and going to a slightly more standard Izzet control shell. I don't have the cards I need to test this, but my thought is white seems kind of awkward in this deck, especially with the colorless lands. ![]() I would love to see if anyone can come up with some better choices than what we've boiled it down to. Getting another fervent mastery with it can be useful. Casting it for the apprentice cost makes people not want to counter it, and can give you subtle information on their hand. ![]() If it hits all 3 Efreets, concede on sight. In trying times, you can use it to obtain your Efreet Flamepainters. It is intended to be used during the first strike of your Efreet Flamepainter to get your power spells and dump them into the grave. An often unaccounted for strategy can be to use these to protect your creatures and then Doomskar the board for a one-sided wipe.įervent Mastery - Turns this from jank to turbojank. Along with Valorous Stance, They are the only things stopping the Efreet Flamepainter from being immediately yeeted. These are both excellent sources of indestructable that can be given for free. Selfless Glyphweaver is a far cry from Alsied of Life's Bounty, but it still works. Linvala, Sheild of Sea Gate is a mouthful of text and we only care about the bottom. Playing these as late as possible helps keep your plans hidden. You'll be using these on the Efreet Flamepainters in order to trigger the combo. This combo will always go off relatively easily if there is no interaction from the opponent.Īccess Tunnel along with Sneaking Guide, allows you to basically ignore your opponents entire board. Now that Emergent Ultimatum has left standard, Efreet Flamepainter has never been better! We are no longer attempting to do crazy bullshit, and have boiled it down to casting Emeria's Call and around 2 to 3 Alrund's Epiphany. This deck can now grind out control games, but it can also still combo win on turn 4. Haste givers were previously used to speed the deck up, but have been traded for control oriented spells. Unfortunately this epic kill is no longer possible now that Ikoria has rotated, but I think it only distracted from the true power of simply putting our opponent into stasis with Alrund's Epiphany. Big issue here though: this version would often times draw you the unplayable cards you meant to freecast. After watching Mono Black Magic on youtube use Emergent Ultimatum to win with generated value through extra combat steps with Moraug, Fury of Akoum, my friends and I managed to find a much more consistent, immediate OTK at instant speed using Peer into the Abyss, Collosification, and Underworld Dreams. Initially I was using a combo that was awful: trying to burn them with spells like sundering strike. Seeing Efreet Flamepainter in the spoilers made me immediately think this sort of thing would be possible. ![]()
